Mission
Focus
Our focus is on children suffering from long-term, life-threatening illnesses and the impact this has on them and their families.
Mission
Our mission is three-fold. First, to provide practical support to these families during their time of need. This may be provided both directly
in the form of a helping hand with things like gardening or grocery shopping, as well as providing friends, the extended families, schools and employers with
the much-needed insights that they need in order to provide the most positively focused support. Second, to co-ordinate the collection and analysis of relevant
data to support etiological research - to identify the relationship between conditions such as childhood cancer (which are
most ascribed to causes unknown) and lifestyle including diet and environmental factors. Third, to advocate for the introduction of regulations
that make it illegal for employers to dismiss parents of these children and to deny their creditors the right to take legal action against them - for a reasonable
period of time.
Approach
We build relationships with affected families by providing practical support, hope and encouragement in their time of need. We deeply understand
their journey because we have our own relevant first-hand experiences. We are using our extensive experience and professional expertise in the commercial world
to create compelling opportunities for commercial sponsors to align their brands with our activities.
Current Status
The Dylan Smith Foundation is currently in the process of being registered as a charitable organisation in Australia.
